Proteoglycan 2 (PRG2, also known as eosinophil major basic protein) is a protein encoded by this gene as the predominant constituent of the crystalline core of the eosinophil granule. Elevated levels of the preform of this protein are present in placenta and pregnancy serum. Here it exists as a complex with several other proteins including C3dg, pregnancy-associated plasma protein A (PAPPA), and angiotensin (AGT). PRG2 may be involved in antiparasitic defense mechanisms as a cytotoxin and helminthotoxin, and in immune hypersensitivity reactions. The protein has been directly implicated in epithelial cell damage, exfoliation and bronchospasm in allergic diseases.

This monoclonal antibody detects eosinophil major basic protein (BMK-13)

This mAb may be used by researchers working in the field(s) of Down's syndrome diagnostics, asthma and cardiology.

Previously validated monoclonal antibody used for R&D purposes

PRG2 is also known as BMPG, MBP, MBP1, Eosinophil major basic protein, proteoglycan 2, bone marrow (natural killer cell activator, eosinophil granule major basic protein)
